On 6 May 2026, the Tribunal received an application to commence collective proceedings under section 47B of the Competition Act 1998 from AGC Collective Actions Limited (the “PCR”) against: (1) Alphabet Inc.; (2) Google LLC; (3) Google Ireland Limited; and (4) Google UK Limited (the "Proposed Defendants").
The claims are for loss and damage allegedly caused by Google's breach of statutory duty by their infringement of section 18 of the Competition Act 1998, Article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union Article 54 of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. The PCR seeks to recover damages to compensate UK-domiciled Advertisers who, during the relevant period, paid for display advertising services provided by Google.
A hearing was listed to determine whether to certify these proceedings on 14 December 2026 with a time estimate of one day, with one day in reserve.
